Tournament Rules
-
Teams must have roster, proof of insurance, birth certificates and USA registration documentation with them. Umpires are to be paid $70 at the start of each game. Umpires for the Championship game will be paid by the tournament.
-
Due to run ahead rule or weather issues, all teams must be ready to play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of each game.
-
Saturday: All games will be 75 minutes. No new inning will begin after one hour and fifteen minutes. If the inning is not completed after 1 hour and 30 minutes of play, the final score reverts back to the last COMPLETED inning. The clock begins with the first warm-up pitch.
Sunday: All games will be 75 minutes. No new inning will begin after one hour and fifteen minutes. On Sunday, we will finish the inning. The clock begins with the first warm-up pitch. For the championship games on Sunday the games will be 7 full innings (6 full innings for 12U). All other games, including the semi-finals will follow the 75 minute rule. -
Run ahead rule: 12 after 3; 10 after 4; and 8 after 5.
-
Pool games that are tied when the time limit expires will be recorded as a tie.
-
Tie breakers: head to head (if 2 teams tied), runs allowed (when multiple teams are tied), runs scored, and finally a coin toss.
-
Coin flip will determine the home team during the pool play games. The higher seed will pick home or away in the single elimination bracket on Sunday.
-
The on-site tournament director reserves the right to change, shorten, modify or alter games and/or schedule in order to conclude the tournament successfully.
-
In the event of rain or wet/unplayable field conditions, it is the decision of the umpires to determine if it is safe to start or continue all games.
-
In all games, teams may bat all players present if they choose. Courtesy runners should be subs if you have them. If you do not have subs, the last completed at bat should be the courtesy runner for the pitcher or catcher. If a player (batter) is injured and subs are not available, an out will not be recorded if a team still has 9 players in the line-up. If only 8 players are remaining, then an out will be recorded at the time off the injured (removed) player (batter) is up to bat.
-
All game softballs will and should be returned to the umpire at the conclusion of the game.
-
The game time is under the control of the umpire(s) on the field.
-
Both teams must send the game score to Jane at 203-213-5550. The text must state your team name, win or loss for your team, the opponent team name and the score. Scores must be sent after each game, not all three at the end of the day. Before the team is done for the day, check the website for accuracy of the scores. If a score is incorrect, please send a text immediately to Jane at 203-213-5550. If an incorrect score is found after the Sunday bracket email has been sent, the score will stand and changes will not be made to the bracket play.
-
The team manager is responsible for the actions of their entire team including spectators. Any ejections made by an umpire for unsportsmanlike conduct are for the entire tournament. This holds true for coaches, players, and spectators.
-
Protests will be allowed if the UIC is on site. If no UIC is on site, the decisions of the umpires are final.
-
Players and coaches are the only individuals in the dugouts and bench area or on the field of play.
-
The home plate umpire is responsible to keep all changes made in the game. All substitutions should be reported to the plate umpire who in turn will report the changes to the opposing team.
-
Team and individual trophies will be awarded to the first and second place teams.
-
If no games are played on a given day, we will unfortunately miss those games for the day. The team with the best record after Sunday play will be named champion and the team who has the second best record will be declared the runner up.
-
If a team forfeits because they cannot field a team a score of 7-0 will be recorded.
-
It is the head coach’s responsibility to check the fields prior to use and alert the umpire and the on-site director if they feel that there are any unsafe playing conditions (wet field, hole that could be stepped in, etc.) The umpires will make sure that any unsafe playing conditions are corrected prior to continuing play.
-
All USA rules apply unless otherwise stated above.
-
Rain policy: If 2 games started, no refund will be provided. If 1 game started, 50% refund will be provided. If no games started, 75% refund will be provided. The umpires make the decision to play or not play the games based upon the filed conditions and if they are safe. We accept any decision an umpire makes to postpone a game due to unsafe conditions.
